Biography

Jared Harris played homeless, sugar-guzzling Ray in Sunday. He was born on November 11th, 1961, in London. He is a son of famous Irish actor Richard Harris. Jared's mother is Elizabeth Harris (aka Joan Elizabeth Rees-Williams), daughter of Labour peer Lord Ogmore. She is divorced from Richard Harris. Jared has two brothers, Damien (director, born in 1958) and Jamie (actor, born in 1965).

After a childhood spent mostly in boarding schools and Central School in London, Harris left England to study drama and literature at Duke University. After graduation he joined the RSC, where he performed in "Hamlet", "Romeo and Juliet", "Silent Woman" and "A Clockwork Orange".

While on vacation in New York in 1990, Harris auditioned for and won the role of Hotspur in "Henry V", which he played at the New York Shakespeare Festival. He also appeared in the off-Broadway play "Ecstasy" (1995), for which he garnered an Obie Award, "Tis a Pity She's Wrote" (Public Theater, 1992).

Harris most famous role is Andy Warhol in Mary Harron's film "I Shot Andy Warhol" (1996). He has appeared in independent films such as "Happiness", "Dead Man", "Father's Day", "Blue in the Face", "Smoke", "Lush", "How to Kill Your Neighbor's Dog", "Bullfighter", "Igby Goes Down", "B. Monkey, and "Two of Us"  (John Lennon).

Harris lives in New York. He performs in both film and theater. He formed The Shinachie Theater Company in New York which premiered its first production a couple of years ago. His recent independent film "Shadow Magic" was highly acclaimed by the film critics. Recently Harris performed in "More Lies About Jerzy" (January 21th -- February 11th, Vineyard Theater), where he portrayed the late Polish immigrant writer Jerzy Kosinski.
